Now more than ever people need to look after themselves for their sanity’s sake. You do what you have to to get through this crisis and if this means stuffing your face silly with all the desserts you can get your grubby hands on to help ease that coronavirus anxiety we’ve got great news for you.

Many dessert shops are open and churning out scrumptious treats for your every dessert craving. And what’s even better is that they deliver to your doorstep via apps like Uber Eats and Skip The Dishes. Who says you can’t have that cake and eat it too?

Here are a few dessert shops delivering everything from beautifully decadent crepes to insanely fluffy Japanese cheesecakes and creamy tarts in Toronto.

1. Craque De Crème

Toronto’s first creme brûlée café now delivers treats to satisfy your sweet tooth while you’re stuck at home. They create gourmet creme brûlées in a wide array of quirky flavors like London fog, honey lavender, roasted black sesame, and Ferrero Rocher.

They also have those infused with alcohol, like Bailey’s, just in case you’ve reached that point when you feel like mixing sugar high with booze. The toasted sugar flavour, one of their best sellers, also goes well with their mini waffles “injected” with Nutella or custard.

2. Crown Pastries

No other shop in the area does authentic Baklava better than Crown Pastries. They’ve mastered the art of creating these flaky pastries down to a T.

Order a box of their scrumptious mixed Baklava with ashta and swar with Nutella or any of their authentic Eastern sweets for an exquisite tea time experience at home.

3. Sugar Marmalade

This shop that specializes in Taiwanese desserts and snacks will take your palate traveling to Asia while in lockdown. They offer unique desserts that’ll spice up your ho-hum quarantine just in case you’re getting bored of your usual chocolate ice cream. You can try their quirky durian pancake or their durian roll supreme that looks too delicate to eat.

They also have a whole lot of other desserts with sweet rice in every color and combination. And while you’re at it, add in an order of Taiwanese-style popcorn or Hong Kong-style steamed rice roll to make your tummy extra happy.

4. Amadeus Pastries

Amadeus makes cakes and pastries that are almost too pretty to eat. Their glazed cakes are so pretty they won’t make you feel bad about canceling the party and spending your birthday on lockdown.

Their famous Amadeus Cake looks too sinful to devour you can just put it on the table and stare at it the entire afternoon and it’d make you feel better. It’s made with milk chocolate hazelnut cream and caramelized hazelnuts stuffed between layers of hazelnut meringue.

5. Cheese Garden Bakery

This shop’s goal is to bring Japanese culture to Canada and they’re doing just that with their soft fluffy Japanese cheesecakes that melt in your mouth the moment they touch your tongue.

The Japanese double fromage cake is like a fluffy piece of cloud on a bed of cottony cheese. You can also order their sakura cheese tart that’s filled with matcha cream cheese ganache and topped with a dainty sakura meringue cookie on top.

6. Mango Like Dessert

You can never go wrong with sweet ripe mangoes on anything—crepes, cakes, and pastries you name it. And this shop has mango desserts in every shape and form.

The mango mille-crepe cake for instance, has fresh mangoes nestled between multiple layers of mango-flavored crepes. You can also order their mango pockets that are basically little bags of bright sunshiny happiness.

7. Chi Patisserie

Last, but certainly not least on the list of shops that sell cakes that are too beautiful to eat is this dessert hub in North York. They have a selection of cakes that look like carefully-curated artwork.

If you want to get "dirty," try their 5-inch dirty dirty cake made with luscious layers of cocoa chiffon, ganache, chocolate, and chantilly cream.
